Daum Design: Collection 12+1"Daum, A fresh look at Nature, for this collection 12+1 Why call on thirteen artists, from such different horizons, and ask them to work on the "Nature" theme?
Daum is a name, but it is also a unique craftsmanship resting on an original material crystal worked using the Pāte de Verre technique. We live in an industrial world, in which technical and financial constraints multiply at the same rate as innovations. The paste of crystal production process, which we, at Daum, term "industrial", displays all the characteristics of genuine artisanship. It thus offers incredible suppleness and sculptural qualities, in terms of both forms and colours.
This is the reason behind our very "free" and eclectic choice of designers.
We built this project around personalities, who all have in common both experience of manufactured materials and a genuine approach and understanding of Nature. Additionally, they all have a true affinity for crystal, and an artistic sensitivity that leads them to grasp it as a material of our times, through its transparency, its thickness and its colours.
The aim of this collection is to express, through 13 pieces in very diverse forms and styles, the potential of Daum's craftsmanship and the role of a crystal manufacturer in today's world.
It is a larger than life opportunity to provide to Daum a fresh look through new dynamics of form and colour, as an ode to Nature, omnipresent in our daily need for liberty, astonishment and harmony."
