SimDriveline Released for Automotive DesignersNatick, Mass.-based The MathWorks on Monday announced the release of SimDriveline, a new tool for automobile designers that helps them model and simulate driveline systems.
The US$3,000 simulation software is available for Mac, Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems.
The software features tools for modeling transmissions, gears, clutches and rotating shafts, using algorithms and interface elements optimized for for driveline engineeering.
It's helpful for engineers who want to design controllers and test them without having to rely on costly prototypes, according to The MathWorks.
SimDriveline was developed using Simulink, MathWorks' software for the model-based design of dynamic systems.
Included with SimDriveline are libraries of components for driveline systems including standard transmission templates, simple engine and tire models.
