BraunPrize Jury Meets For The First TimeWhen the 2005 BraunPrize jury met in November globalisation, cultural influences and uninhibited expression were much on the panellists mind along with fostering the high standards of quality and innovation for which the prestigious prize has always been known.
The 2005 BraunPrize jury's first meeting, was doubly significant as not only is this the 15th BraunPrize, it also coincides with Braun's celebration of 50 Years of Design, commemorating the origins of its Design Department at the 1955 Düsseldorf Radio Exhibition when Braun presented a new product range and new design identity to an electrified public.
Reflecting the international status of the BraunPrize, the 2005 guest jurors are Alessandra Vasile - Milan-based Architect and tutor at the Milan Politecnico's Faculty of Industrial Design - and Gianfranco Zaccai - President and CEO of Design Continuum in Boston. At the meeting, both guest jurors acknowledged how honoured they were to be on the jury. For Gianfranco Zaccai, Braun represents a historic reference point in design with icon products such as the KF 20 coffee maker - the first Braun product he ever bought. Alessandra Vasile has long been fascinated with the BraunPrize, which gives absolute freedom to young designers yet has a very structured approach to judging their work.
