Kodak Digital Camera Brings New FeaturesEastman Kodak Co. is unveiling a groundbreaking new camera today that could take digital photography for consumers in an entirely new direction - one free of annoying wires.
The company's new EasyShare-One model will allow users to send their favorite images to friends and family - or to printers - directly from the back of the camera.
Introduced this afternoon in Las Vegas, EasyShare-One also provides unprecedented levels of on-board photo storage, the largest LCD screen of any digital camera on the market and cutting-edge connections to Kodak's online photo service.
The camera is an important part of Kodak's evolving efforts to build a networked system in digital photography that allows consumers to view, e-mail or print their images anytime, any place.
EasyShare-One is billed as the first camera to allow consumers to transmit or print images without first connecting to a personal computer, digital imaging kiosk or printer.
The camera comes with technology for linking to compatible wireless networks either at home or in public places such as Starbucks or local universities. Those links allow consumers to reach Kodak's online photo service to upload and download photos and send e-mail. They also allow the camera to talk to compatible printers.
