Ball Pen: Best Low-cost Invention EverA design exhibition at the Design Museum in London titled Under a Tenner - What is Good Design?, has chosen a long-lasting pen with quick-drying ink as the best low-cost innovation ever.
According to The Telegraph, the museum asked 14 of the world's professional designers each to nominate their top 10 designs under 10 pounds. The exhibition's 40,000 visitors were then asked to make their own suggestions.
The pen called the Biro was designed by Hungarian journalist Laszlo Biro's in 1930. The other favourites were the paper clip, the London Underground map, the condom and Velcro.
Only two of those five had been nominated: the Bic biro and the condom.
Other popular choices were the zip, Post-it notes, an umbrella, flip-flops, the safety pin and the lightbulb. (ANI)
