Maybach Exelero ConceptDaimlerChrysler unveiled a high-performance show car last week at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
A one-off custom Maybach Coupe has been developed for Fulda, the German tyre company.
Called the Exelero, it has been timed at 218 mph and hits 62 mph in 4.4 seconds - despite weighing 2.7 tonnes.
It has been built to publicise the new Fulda Exelero range of tyres which should never have to face such a stiff test again: 2.7 tonnes at 218 mph puts an immense strain on the tyres.
While there are no plans to put the Exelero into production, Maybach is known to be eyeing the Bentley Continental GT as a possible target for the future.
While the big Maybach saloon is virtually unsaleable in many markets, a mainstream coupe selling for Continental GT money offers at least a possibility of success.
