Index 2005 International Design AwardIndex: 2005 hand out the world's largest design and innovation award on September 23rd.
118 top designs from all over the world have been selected from hundreds of nominees.
The focus is Design to improve life - design as a tool to make vast improvements in the life of many people.
The categories focus on the key trends in human life: Body, Home, Work, Community and Play. One project from each category will receive the INDEX: Awards.
From September 23rd - November 13th the 118 nominated top designs will be displayed at the centre of Copenhagen: The Future Scenarios Exhibition at the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen will illustrate how design could improve life for people around the world in year 2010.
From September 25th - September 28th - Views: 35 international and regional creative leaders from the world will participate in design labs in order to develop new and innovative solutions to 5 global challenges.
The 10th of November People's Choice Award will be presented.
Denmark has a long history with design.
Danish Design is recognised all over the world as both aesthetic and functional.
Also there has always been a democratic issue to Danish Design, and the Danish Design tradition is more about social design than about aesthetics.
Building on these traditions, the focus for Index:2005 therefore is
