University of Cincinnati Students Design Cars of TomorrowStudents in the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning are taking part in a new major that could influence the future of automotive design.
The transportation design program, formally a sect of the industrial design major, gives students a chance to work with professional automotive designers while preparing for their careers,
And what does it mean to be a transportation design major?
"Sketching, sketching and more sketching," Brian Hillner, a fourth-year student in the program said.
"We spend 16-18 hours a day, seven days a week in our studios working on our projects.
I even brought in my cot from home into our studio so we have something to sleep on other than the hard table top."
A Red Bull refrigerator in the classroom is refilled by the company for free a couple of times a year, providing students with the necessary boost they need to work late into the night.
And it doesn't go to waste.
More than half of the window to the outside world is being filled up with empty, stacked Red Bull cans.
