Wiro by Simon PengellyWiro coffee table and magazine rack are manufactured using the process of cnc wire bending.
Wiro is made using gradually changing profiles of 6mm diameter steel wire.
Each cnc profiled loop is spot welded to support wires and finished in a silver powder coat.
The coffee table has optional coasters with a ridged underside which slot into the wires and are produced from mdf with a textured finish, available in a range of colours.
Simon Pengelly started making furniture in his father's workshop when he was eight, going on to win national competitions for cabinet making.
The practical experience and an affinity with materials and processes, gained from an early age, are central to his design work and service.
Understanding materials and manufacturing techniques is fundamental to his approach, combined with a passionate desire to create accessible production furniture with 'soul'.
He thinks that understanding manufacturing culture and possessing knowledge of these companies markets is the only way to effectively work with manufacturers.
