iF Product Design Award 2006"Design, not marketing" - this was the slogan of the jury for the iF product design award 2006 competition, which proceeded to award a coveted iF seal of design excellence to 688 products overall.
The student based competition entitled "iF concept award product" resulted in awards for 20 students, accompanied by the jury's appeal to design more with their heads, and less with their computers.
1,952 products entered from 37 different nations were up for examination during the three-day judging session at the Hannover Exhibition Center, and the experts had plenty to talk about.
The jurors judged products in twelve different categories, including the packaging / globe packaging award, staged in close cooperation with the German Packaging Museum in Heidelberg, with the following results: 688 products received an iF seal of excellence.
The winners of the iF gold awards, the 50 'design Oscars', will not be announced until the official awards ceremony on March 9 at CeBIT 2006.
The student-based iF concept award product also achieved a new record: 639 registrations from students across the globe, representing 33 nations, offered a broad spectrum of all product-relevant categories.
