Elements of ChangeThere are many events occurring around the world, which are having profound implications on us as designers.
Design and designers have always had a hand in shaping each wave of industrial, economic and social change.
Right now, we are at the tipping point of major change once again.
We are facing a future of unprecedented competition in business and intense pressure to deliver quality products and services that meet the needs and expectations of a 21st century society.
Today, we're part of a networked global economy in which national prosperity will increasingly depend on design, creativity and intellectual property.
Issues surrounding the global economy, in sourcing, out sourcing, geo-political unrest, technology overload and the de-humanization within our society, all grossly effect our profession.
How are we, the gate-keepers of productization and the purveyors of modern culture, being equipped to continually innovate within this super-charged climate? Are we losing touch with the human element? Human beings have relied on the interpretation of body language, eye contact and voice inflection as a means of survival and evolution.
We make decisions using our senses and deep cultural underpinnings.
