Droog Design: The Human TouchObject Gallery brings world renowned Amsterdam-based design phenomenon, Droog Design to the forefront of Australian consciousness in a landmark exhibition The Human Touch.
Famed for its alternative vision of design, Droog Design is one of the most influential design stables in the world.
Steadily growing since its inception in 1993, the Droog Design collection presently features over 180 designs by over 100 designers, encompassing lighting, furniture, tabletop, kitchen, bathroom, accessories and more.
The designers that Droog approaches share a mentality that looks at design as both a functional statement and conceptual discourse.
Curated by founders Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker, The Human Touch is a travelling exhibition featuring products from the Droog Design collection that intensify the relationship between the user and the product.
The products on show combine functionality and conceptual clarity with a keen expression of awareness of cultural and technological references and contexts.
The result of Droog's curatorial approach is a collection of aesthetic and functional objects which together represent an idiosyncratic view on design in the 21st century.
The installation is designed by the young Dutch designer Simon Heijdens.
