Label Rising Currents Projects for New Yorks Waterfront

Rising Currents: Projects for New York's Waterfront

Rising Currents: Projects for New York's Waterfront is a major project organized by The Museum of Modern Art in cooperation with P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center that will bring together four teams of architects, engineers, and landscape designers to address and create infrastructure solutions to make New York City more resilient in response to rising water levels and to protect eco-systems.

The future of New York's waterfronts has been identified as one of the most urgent challenges the nation's largest city faces, with the anticipated rise in sea levels due to climate change.

Rising Currents is organized by Barry Bergdoll, The Philip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design, The Museum of Modern Art.

The concept for the Rising Currents project is inspired by the forthcoming book, On the Water: Palisades Bay by Guy Nordensen, professor of structural engineering and architecture at Princeton University, a faculty associate of the University Center for Human Values, and consultant to the exhibition.

The resulting proposals-models, drawings, and analytical materials-will be presented in an exhibition at MoMA.
