BIO20 Awards: 20th Biennial of Industrial Design
Those who will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition will have a broad view of what design means, and how design effects every single aspect of our daily lives. Design is not just about embellishing objects. Design helps to solve human challenges and needs. Design means experimentation and taking risks. In this context, we would like to state that the general standard is high, however, we have detected a decrease of innovative aspects of design concepts and a lack of 'design for all'-led solutions from BIO 19.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of BIO, it is a good opportunity to have a look at the past and review the changes that took place. But we also believe that it would be a much better opportunity to look forward and analyse future challenges and opportunities of how the region should react to a totally globalised economy.
We believe that Slovenia should develop all those elements that could add value to the products. The region should capitalise on the quality and creativity of craft and industry traditions, to adapt to the needs of the global market. The paradox is that in the global market, local aspects play a more significant role in differentiation. BIO can help to lead and reflect this transformation.
