Planet Propaganda Hires Brand Manager and Account Manager
Two new staffers join Planet Propaganda's growing design, advertising and interactive company: brand manager Michael Murray, and account manager Mariah Singer. They will work closely with each other and their colleagues to support such clients as Bretford furniture and workspaces, 3form, National Business Furniture, and Replogle Globes.
Michael Murray, Brand Manager Murray most recently served as an account manager at Shine Advertising in Madison, where he led marketing efforts for Veridian Homes, Umi Children's Shoes, and Originate Home Loans. Before that, he worked for four years at Fallon in Minneapolis on the BMW brand, including integrated television, print, outdoor, and online campaigns for its US model launches and BMW Films campaigns.
Murray was attracted to Planet's service integration and "simply, then amplify" methodology. "I really like that Planet does so much for its clients," says Murray. "Beyond the smart, strategic approach and incredible creative quality of the work, they exude this roll-up-your-sleeves attitude that encourages everyone to explore and entrench themselves in the culture and concerns of their clients, while keeping a healthy objectivity."
Originally from a 10-person family in Chicago, Murray traveled north to earn a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While in college, he gained a reputation as a "music nerd" with a love for indie rock, including hosting and attending live performances. His appreciation for live, original music fits with the Planet culture, as does his commitment to environmental and social responsibility. In his spare time, he works with his wife on rehabbing the 1920s Sun Prairie, Wis. home that they share with their two sons.
Mariah Singer, Account Manager Singer also draws from a traditional agency career and environmental interests. Before coming to Planet, she was a highly regarded project manager at Colle+McVoy's Minneapolis office. Her clients ranged from Nestlé Purina to Explore Minnesota Tourism, from Red Wing Shoe Company to Winnebago. Singer says, "I like the variety and creativity of this business. With Planet, I instantly felt a sincerity and honesty that made me want to be part it, supporting the group and its clients."
After five years with the company, she and her husband returned to her home state. They purchased a house and acre of land just outside of Sun Prairie, Wis. Singer likes the open space and wants to remain close to outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, and camping. She grew up in the small town of Iola and moved to urban Eau Claire, where she studied public communications and English, graduating with a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. While in Minneapolis, she also successfully completed the American Association of Advertising Agencies' arduous professional development program.
Planet Propaganda is a design, advertising, and interactive company committed to shaping passion-based brands. Founded in 1989 in Madison, Wis., Planet's national clients include Gary Fisher mountain bikes, Bretford furniture and workspaces, PunchStock images, and Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches.
