The Field Signs Editor Barrett Heathcote

Editing and graphic design company The Field announced that it has signed editor Barrett Heathcote for exclusive US representation. The signing marks the London-based editor's official foray into the US market.

"Barrett is an incredibly talented editor, who is also a powerful and accomplished sound designer," said The Field founder/Executive Producer Michael Porte. "He represents the next gen editor with his vast knowledge of post, effects and audio, and experience in both advertising and indie film. He's also an exceptionally positive and collaborative individual."

"I met with Michael at The Field's new space and we immediately connected on a mutual passion for the industry," noted Heathcote. "Michael is someone who has unfaltering drive and enthusiasm. He has a vast knowledge of all aspects of the business which is a huge asset to clients."

Heathcote has always been fascinated with advertising and how editing is instrumental in shaping compelling 30-second narratives. This interest has translated into a successful career cutting commercials for French Connection, Carling, Bushmills, Heinz and Olympus.

A longtime collaborator with Director Duncan Jones, Heathcote was the visual effects editor on Jones' critically acclaimed and award-winning feature film "Moon," starring Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey. In this capacity he also oversaw the final finish and worked closely with Composer Clint Mansell. "Moon" was released on DVD and BlueRay in January after an extensive festival run and theatrical release by Sony Classics.

Heathcote recalls being awestruck by the theatrical screening of Michael Hausman's Levi's commercial "Procession" while studying film and television. His foray into editing was at the now-defunct OBE in London, where he assisted John McManus on his projects with such top directors as Jonathan Glazer and the afore-mentioned Michael Haussman. Heathcote left OBE to become an editor working out of various London-based edit houses as a freelancer, with a two-year representation by Jonny Rongos. Heathcote is also an accomplished still photographer of compelling portraits and expansive landscapes.

"In both commercials and stills, I love projects that hint at an extended narrative," said Heathcote. "With advertising, the added challenge of selling a product or idea is exciting and requires a subtle balancing act in the edit. I love working that line between story and selling."

Recently relocated to a brownstone in the heart of New York's Chelsea district, The Field shares its studio environment with sister company Nth Degree Creative Group. At The Field, Barrett joins editors Mike Siedlecki and Fabrizio Rosetti along with a talented group of animators and designers.
