Diesel Unveils New Installation at Diesel Denim Gallery

Sydney-based artists Korban/Flaubert now present "Automatic," a custom art installation at the SoHo Diesel Denim Gallery (DDG) from May 20th through July, the latest project in an ongoing series of collaborations between Diesel and curator Sebastien Agneessens.

Korban/Flaubert is the design and production partnership founded in 1993 by metal specialist Janos Korban and architect Stefanie Flaubert. The Australian artists are noted for their experimental furniture and lighting, and large site-specific sculptural commissions. Their work has been exhibited in Australia, Europe, the U.S., the U.K. and Japan.

"Automatic" further explores a theme evident in Korban/Flaubert's work; the artists' fascination with complex organic growth patterns. This installation serves as an artistic reflection on the growing global interest in bio-mimicry, the science examines organic models to create solutions to human problems.

Sebastien Agneessens is a New York-based brand curator whose interest lies in creating common ground between contemporary art and brands, striving to expose art to broader audiences. His agency Formavision was founded in 2003.

The Diesel Denim Galleries are concept stores positioned between retail spaces and art galleries. Located in New York (68 Greene Street) and Tokyo, DDG links contemporary art to the DDG collection, limited-edition wearable works of art.
