Melbourne Design Awards 2010

Melbourne Design Awards 2010

Entries have opened to the Melbourne Design Awards (MDA) - a new awards program in association with the Design Institute of Australia, Victorian Branch, that honours Melbourne's best design across more than fifty categories.

The MDA are the only design awards recognising such a broad range of design categories, that are cross-disciplinary and honour all aspects of the design process.

In addition, the public are able to vote for finalists after industry panels have reviewed entries.

Melbourne is the inaugural city for the program's parent association, the City Design Awards, which has plans for Design Awards in Paris, New York, Stockholm, Helsinki and Taipei.

Mark Bergin, Creative Director of MDA said the Awards stemmed from a wish to elevate the profile of the entire design process, not just the end result.

He added that the MDA will help form stronger links between designers and the broader public.

Entries are open to any designer, design company, commissioner of design or student, provided they are active in the Melbourne market.
