Seeper Makes US Debut Through Projection Mapping Frank Gehry's Iconic IAC Building

Leading UK Art and Digital collective Seeper, best known for their Architectural Projection Mapping projects - made their US debut by radically transforming the iconic, Frank Gehry designed IAC Building in New York into a real-time 3D work of art during the Vimeo Festival And Awards.

The entire facade of the famous architectural monument transformed by Seeper into a living, breathing canvas. Seeper's open-air display allows for real-time 3D content to be projected and aligned to real world objects using projectors so powerful that they produce lightening bolts inside them.

It is fitting that the performance was chosen as the culmination to the first ever Vimeo Festival and Awards as Seeper were discovered through their profile on Vimeo. The videos take on another meaning when shared on the online space, blurring the line between reality and illusion further as viewers try to suspend their collective disbelief.

Architectural projection mapping is an emerging medium that pushes the boundaries of art and technology. Pioneered in Europe and spurned on by developments in 3D imaging technology, architectural projection mapping has recreated buildings such as the Senate House in Russell Square and Branchage Castle to profound effect.
