Bluecadet Creates Interactive Exhibits for Royal Ontario Museum

Bluecadet created two interactive experiences for a recent exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum that highlight a world where the highly endangered species is no longer threatened by extinction.

The exhibit, Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story, opened March 11 and documents the lives of nine blue whales who were trapped in ice off the coast of Newfoundland in 2014 whose unfortunate deaths provided researchers with a groundbreaking opportunity to study the mammals further. Bluecadet created interactive work for the exhibit which includes a video game, License to Krill, where visitors can dive and explore as a whale.

These nine whales represented small percentage of the overall remaining population of the endangered species and Bluecadet wanted the game to have a simple, fun, old school feel that would show users what it would feel like to strengthen the blue whales' chances of one day making it off of the endangered species list, while also making a memorable educational connection with museum visitors.
