The 2022 Polestar Design Contest is now open for submissions. The 2022 theme, 'Performance,' requires submissions to embody a new type of electric performance that shakes off the shackles of internal combustion and noise (as well as air) pollution.
The paradigm has shifted from the high-consumption performance of the 20th century. This design must embody that shift. Both the experience and the technical aspects of the design need to be described in an accompanying 200-word text.
This year, there will be two winners. One for exterior, one for interiors. A returning aspect of the Polestar Design Contest is the coaching and support. Shortlisted contestants will receive guidance and feedback in remote sessions with Polestar designers throughout the contest.
In addition, and quite uniquely, Polestar will make the winning design into a full-size model, if car-sized or smaller. This model, a merging of the winning exterior and interior designs, will then be presented on the Polestar stand at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2023.
The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2022.
