Carl Hansen & Son A/S received a distinguished award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York for the CH_20 Elbow Chair originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1956. The CH_20 Chair is now in production for the first time in the history of the collection. This commemoration marks a unique time in the legacy of the visionary designer. The simple and elegant CH_20, Hans J. Wegner's wooden stackable chair, embodies Wegner's ideology and skill for minimalism.

Hans J. Wegner, with his unique understanding of wood, its possibilities, and limitations, has created many designs each with its own character. The Elbow Chair is suitable for a broad variety of settings from residential to commercial, institutional and cultural interior environments.

"The CH_20 chair is both modern and classic with an understated beauty that is timeless. We are excited at the response we've received from architects and designers at the fair," said Carl Hansen & Son Inc. president and CEO, Hans Erik Jensen.

The association between Hans J. Wegner and Carl Hansen & Son Mobelfabrik A/S commenced in 1949. The first furniture model - the renowned "Wishbone Chair" - was presented in 1950 and was followed by a substantial number of chairs, which have all gained status as classic chairs, sought after as collector's items worldwide.

"Our aim has always been to make things as simple and genuine as possible, to show what we could create with our hands, try to make wood come alive, to give it spirit and vitality and to appear inherent", said Hans J. Wegner.
