CA Square Takes the War on Terror to the Ipod GenerationOn October 14th an exhibit opened in California that drew from the work of some of the industry's leading design and motion graphic studios.
The exhibition, titled Graphic Contents, was presented by "mixi-bang!" a gallery and retail shop in Pasadena.
New York creative studio, CA Square, was among the companies invited to design a one of a kind Qee toy for the show.
"Among the thirty-three original Qee designs created for the show, CA Square's design stood out for a number of reasons, noted David Chen, mixi-bang! Co-founder.
"I've always believed that good design should communicate on a number of levels and CA Square's 'Little Bro*' Qee does just that."
With 'Little Bro*' CA Square manages to pay homage to Orwell's 1984 while remaining eerily relevant under the government's surveillance-centric policies.
The 8" Qee was outfitted with a camera embedded in its head and connected to a computer that could record the video stream while simultaneously outputting the video onto a nearby television monitor.
CA Square's creative director, Carlos Ferreyros, explained, "We decided to see what would happen when government policy and pop culture collide.
The result is a little guy that stands on your desk and keeps a watchful eye over you, you know, for your own good..."
