GDC Successfully Lobbies Federal Government to Update Industry Definition

In July of 2009 the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada submitted a proposal to Statistics Canada recommending that the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) definition of Graphic Design (industry 541430) be updated to include website design.

GDC today announced that they have received formal notification that the recommendation has been accepted by Statistics Canada and will be incorporated into the 2012 Canadian version of the NAICS definition of graphic design in December of 2011.

NAICS is the main industry classification system used by Statistics Canada.

NAICS is a classification system used by Canada, the United States, and Mexcio, and it is developed co-operatively with the 3 countries, although each country maintains its version version.
