Vue53 Apartments by Valerio Dewalt Train

The recently completed Vue53 in Chicago's Hyde Park brings contemporary living to an historic Chicago neighborhood. Designed by Valerio Dewalt Train Associates, the 13-story mixed-use development includes 267 apartments, ground-floor retail, and a large communal roof deck overlooking Nichols Park across the street.

The building is clad in blue glass and divided into two towers. Strategically placed voids minimize the building's apparent mass facing the park while giving Vue53 its distinctive rectilinear shape.

Tailored to appeal particularly to design-savvy graduate students and young faculty at the University of Chicago two blocks away, Vue53 has 15% of its units dedicated to affordable housing, reinforcing the neighborhood's already diverse community. In addition to studios and one and two-bedroom units, Vue53 offers amenities such as collaborative study spaces, a game room, and an exercise room, all with expansive views of the park.
