PUMA Opens Store in New York with New Design

With the opening of a new store in Manhattan's Union Square today, PUMA introduced the launch of the new PUMA Store design. The Union Square store is located at 33 Union Square West and measures 5,300 square feet.

The idea behind the new store design features a Ship Container concept, where all of the fixture elements are positioned in the space by being mounted on the walls, laid on the floor or suspended from the ceiling. The modular design contains various elements that can be mixed and matched in different ways, giving each store the opportunity to create its own individual style.

"With this new design concept, we once again surprise our customers with innovative and fun ways to promote the PUMA-experience in our stores and to thereby increase the brand desirability", says Antonio Bertone, Group Functional Director Brand and Marketing.

"The design intent was to imagine not just another PUMA concept store, but a place where the PUMA energy was evident. I wanted to promote city style in a place that encourages casual shopping," says Paolo Lucchetta of RetailDesign SRL and creator of the new store.

The store in Union Square joins two other PUMA stores in New York -- a sport fashion store in the Meatpacking District and a PUMA Concept Store in Soho. The PUMA store in Union Square will carry diverse collections including Golf, Pele, Evisu and Ferrari among many others. The new store will also host PUMA's sneaker customization program, Mongolian Shoe BBQ, and sell The PUMA Bike by Biomega. Since opening its first retail store in 1999, PUMA now has over 40 Concept Stores in the United States and over 80 stores worldwide.
