2012 BraunPrize

2012 BraunPrize

Now in its 18th edition, the 2012 BraunPrize is back with a bang: It features an all-new theme "Genius design for a better everyday" emphasizing the importance of industrial design and innovative, well-designed products that improve everyday life for consumers around the world.

The hand-selected BraunPrize jury will consist of globally renowned design experts including Naoto Fukasawa, Jane Fulton Suri and Anne Berger, who will reward design concepts and ideas that lead to innovative, practical, beautiful and intuitive product solutions tailored to everyday consumer needs - the trademarks of Braun's influential design.

In addition to the global design award, Braun is inaugurating a new sustainability award which will recognize design projects with a particularly strong focus on sustainable solutions for everyday life. The 2012 BraunPrize will also see the establishment of national BraunPrize winners, highlighting the very best talent in individual countries. All winners will be announced at the BraunPrize ceremony on September 26, 2012, in Kronberg, Germany - the total prize money for the 2012 BraunPrize has been raised to $100,000.

"The BraunPrize remains hugely important for Braun and the design community in general. Since Erwin Braun developed the BraunPrize competition in 1968, our aim has been to find and promote new design talent who would continue to challenge norms, develop their own unique perspective and forge exciting design innovations," said Professor Oliver Grabes, Braun's Head of Design and Chairman of the BraunPrize Jury. "From the 10 principles of the iconic Dieter Rams to inspiring Jonathan Ives, Braun has an impressive design heritage that is founded on beautiful, intuitive design. I'm also thrilled that the 2012 BraunPrize will again be supported and endorsed by icsid"

Deadline for entries is March 31, 2012.
