Trekstor Vibez Wins Red Dot Design Award

Trekstor Vibez

Receiving its most coveted award to date, TrekStor GmbH & Co. KG, Germany's top-selling brand of digital portable media players, announced that the TrekStor vibez MP3 player has earned a prestigious red dot award: product design for 2007. Honoring sophisticated and cutting edge design, the annual red dot design award is given out by the North Rhineland-Westphalia Design Center and is one of the most coveted design prizes given out worldwide.

The vibez's avant-garde design and craftsmanship is reflected in its unique two circle rectangle design. With a squared, high-contrast TFT full-color display, embedded in the player's "upper circle," and a rubberized scroll wheel in the "lower circle," the form factor is unlike any other MP3 player on the market.

"TrekStor, known throughout Europe for award-winning, stylishly designed products, offers vibez as another trendsetter in personal, portable media players," said Hana Arad, president of Data Station, the U.S. marketing arm for Germany-based TrekStor GmbH & Co. KG. "By commissioning one of the best known Munich design studios, we've created an exceptional player with a look, feel and functionality that is different than anything else on the market."

A total of 2,548 products from 43 countries participated in the 2007 competition. Selection criteria are, amongst others: degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility and clarity of function.

The award ceremony will take place on June 25, 2007 in the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Germany. The vibez will be presented together with other award-winning products in a special exhibition and placed in the red dot design museum, the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide.
