Colourmovie Creates the Opening Sequence for Slamdance Film Festival's 15th Anniversary

Slamdance, who is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, tapped Colourmovie to design and animate the show open for this year's festival in Park City, Utah.

Through it's fifteen year history, Slamdance has established a unique reputation for premiering new films by first-time writers and directors working within the creative confines of limited budgets.

Taking inspiration from this DIY approach, Colourmovie designed a Gilliam-esque flying apparatus to serve as a visual metaphor for independent filmmaking.

Driven by a raucous soundtrack created in-house by John McGinnis, the viewer is taken into the inner chambers of this precarious vessel to get a glimpse of it's machinations, and the fifteen years of work that has gone into Slamdance films.

Drea Clark, Slamdance's Executive Director remarks, "I was expecting some memorable artistry when we brought in Colourmovie for our milestone year, and even those high expectations were blown away.

The video piece they created was innovative and sumptuous and multi-layered, and it also perfectly captured our essence and spirit.

We couldn't be more thrilled or proud of the results, and I know our audiences will be equally impressed and inspired."
