SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss Named Keynote Speaker at 2009 Los Angeles Architectural Awards

Eric Owen Moss, Director of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and principal of Eric Owen Moss Architects, will be honored as the keynote speaker at the 2009 Los Angeles Architectural Awards on Thursday, May 28, at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

As a long time faculty member at SCI-Arc and the director of the school since 2002, Eric Owen Moss has played an important role in architectural education, and lectures regularly around the world.

He has held chairs at Yale and Harvard Universities, and appointments at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.

His office has been recognized internationally with over 80 design awards, including a recent winning entry for the "City of the Future" competition for Los Angeles, organized by the History Channel.

The project has been featured in the Musee de la Civilisation in Quebec, and Moss recently lectured about the future development of Los Angeles at the REDCAT Theater at the Disney Concert Hall.

The 2009 Los Angeles Architectural Awards are hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa presents the City of Los Angeles Green Building Awards at the function that is emceed by Frances Anderton, host of KCRW's DnA.
