Initiated in 2005 by the DesignSingapore Council, the Singapore Design Festival is a biennial platform to promote design and the design industry in Singapore, creating opportunities for networking and the exchange of ideas, and enhancing Singapore's image as a vibrant and creative international design city.
The theme for this year's Singapore Design Festival 2009 is "Design 2050: Possibilities for Tomorrow" - which looks to inspire everyone to consider and examine scenarios of how life can be different in the future by design.
The Festival hopes to start important conversations around design and the various aspects of human lives, be it economically, socially, or environmentally as well as celebrate the past and present of design as invaluable input and inspiration for innovation by our future generations of designers.
The broad spectrum of events and activities of the Singapore Design Festival 2009 include Singapore showcases, trade events, major international presentations, award ceremonies, product launches, tours, open houses, talks and workshops.
