AIGA/LA Announces Its New Board of Directors for 2010-2012

AIGA/LA, the Los Angeles chapter of AIGA, elected a new Board of Directors for 2010-2012. In May 2010, a slate of nominees was presented to the Los Angeles membership for a vote. There was a two-week voting period which ended on June 4, 2010, and the new Board has been elected. Board members serve a two-year term that runs from June-May.

The new Board President is Jimmy Moss, Professor at Cal State L. A. and former Vice President of the Board. Jimmy is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Yale School of Art. In addition to teaching design, he is also Chair of the Graphic Design/Visual Communication Option. He maintains a strong interest in questions of information design, typographic communication, and the role of design in public spaces and in service to movements of social change.

The new Vice President is Melanie Paykos , Senior Creative Director of Brand: Two West. Melanie received her BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has taught design at Otis College of Art and Design. Prior to merging with Two West in 2008, she was principal and creative director of her own full-service graphic design and brand identity firm, Melanie Paykos Design. For 20 years she has been a contributing member of the AIGA as a panel participant, host of a studio tour, reviewer for portfolio day and a member of the Fellows nominating committee.
