Contract Magazine Interiors Awards, now in its 32nd year, recognizes excellence and innovation across 14 categories of interior design projects - including education, large office, retail, restaurant, hospitality, and student - as well as honoring the recipients of the coveted Designer of the Year and Legend Award winners.
Taking home the prestigious Designers of the Year Award this year are Primo Orpilla and Verda Alexander of studio o+a (above left), who have demonstrated continuing success through the dot-com boom and bust in their designs for offices in the Silicon Valley, such as Facebook and AOL.
"Behind every design is a great person, or in this case two great designers.
Orpilla and Alexander have made it happen," commented Jennifer Busch, Contract editor in chief.
The other high honor of the ceremony, the annual Legend Award, was bestowed to Eva Maddox, design principal, Perkins+Will.
Maddox has set an example for the A&D community throughout her lustrous career, serving as an example for as a designer, an educator, a community activist, and leader.
