Perkins Eastman Announces 2011 Promotions

The Board of Directors of Perkins Eastman has announced recent senior-level promotions in several offices and affiliate companies. The promotions occur annually and reflect the company's commitment to building and maintaining a strong and dynamic management team across its many practice areas, multiple offices, and network of affiliates.

In New York City, Jay P. Epstein AIA and Barry McCormick AIA were promoted to Principal; Sarah K. Yackel AICP of affiliate BFJ Planning was promoted to Associate Principal. In Pittsburgh, Laurie E. Butler NCIDQ, LEED AP and Arch E. Pelley AIA, AICP, LEED AP were promoted to Associate Principal. In Chicago, L. Ramu Ramachandran AIA, LEED AP was prompted to Associate Principal. In Shanghai, Tommy Huang was promoted to Associate Principal.

Promoted to Principal
Jay P. Epstein AIA (New York, NY) Epstein has more than 30 years of comprehensive experience in the design and construction of healthcare facilities, research laboratories, office buildings, and corporate headquarters facilities.

Barry McCormick AIA (New York, NY) With a career spanning over 30 years, McCormick has developed strong design skills, management, and technical expertise for a range of building types including corporate, commercial, law firms, retail, institutional, and residential.

Promoted to Associate Principal
Laurie E. Butler NCIDQ, LEED AP (Pittsburgh, PA) Butler is a leader in the firm's green design group and is instrumental in incorporating sustainable features to many interior design projects. She has been involved with the design of more than 2M sf of interior spaces on a variety of senior living communities.

Tommy Huang (Shanghai, China) Huang has 10 years of experience managing and coordinating projects in China, utilizing his expertise in project management, regulatory and technical standards, and quality control.

Arch E. Pelley AIA, AICP, LEED AP (Pittsburgh, PA) Pelley is a senior planner with 25 years of experience in the design of residential care environments, including community planning, mixed-use development, and neighborhood revitalization, and urban revitalization and community housing developments.

L. Ramu Ramachandran AIA, LEED AP (Chicago, IL) Ramachandran has more than 16 years of experience and offers expertise in advanced building systems and technologies, building envelope design, and sustainable design practices for senior living and large-scale mixed-use projects.

Sarah K. Yackel AICP (BFJ Planning, New York, NY) Yackel is an urban planner with more than 12 years of experience in environmental and land use planning, environmental impact review, and assessment processes for a variety of projects ranging from large-scale urban redevelopment projects to small-scale projects in suburban/rural areas.

In addition to principal- and associate principal-level promotions, 25 additional employees were promoted to associate and 30 to senior associate-totaling 62 promotions firm-wide.
