Winners of the Salone Satellite Award 2012

Cosmit announced the winners of the 15th edition of Salone Satellite 2012.

First Prize
Raul Lauri (Spain)
Decafe Lamp - made with biodegradable material derived from coffee grounds. This award is given in recognition of the design development, research and experimentation with biodegradable materials used in the design of this lighting fixture.

El Botijo Flask

Second Prize
Wow (Spain)
El Botijo Flask - a variation of a traditional Spanish flask that naturally cools water. Described as determinedly traditional with a modern twist, this useful and sustainable design is highly commercial. A contemporary take on an age-old shape, the botijo uses an evaporative cooling technique.

Third Prize
Hinnerud / Enoksson / Boldt (Sweden)
Enamel Table - The bathroom comes to the kitchen in this design which uses an enameling technique that was traditionally used to glaze bathtubs. This steel coated enamel table can be used indoors and outdoors.

Special Mention
Jes-Titanium Design (Italy)
Velvet Sand - A patented titanium covering system. Jessica Stenta and Vincenzo Battaglia, whose qualifications and professional training are very different yet symbiotic, have created a high quality product experimenting with titanium. Titanium and technology come together to create light. L1 and L2 are two Concept Lights produced with artisanal expertise.

Pod - Fabric-reinforced polypropylene food containers. Their design was recognized for its creative use of materials. Creativeans is an award-winning design collective with offices in
Singapore and Milan and consists of Kimming Yap, Yulia Saksen, Khairul Hussin and Sharina Bi.
