When the team behind Toronto's Weslodge decided to open a second location at the world's tallest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, they tapped Navigate Design to deliver a space worthy of the evolving brand. Ken Lam, co-founder of the Toronto-based firm, and his team worked to create a restaurant on the 68th floor of the hotel that is whimsical, eclectic, and dedicated to Weslodge's origin, while infusing the brand's identity into the thriving business district of Business Bay.

Navigate Design's concept for the restaurant draws inspiration from Weslodge's distinct style and cuisine. The design team wanted to create a space that elevates the modern day saloon to a full-sensory experience. As soon as guests enter the hotel's top floor, they are greeted by a reception area that features a moody color palette. In this area guests will also find a bright yellow door that signals the restaurant's entrance. Once inside, diners are greeted by the heart and soul of the restaurant-the bar and lounge. As you watch your bespoke cocktail being poured at the bar, you're surrounded by curated art pieces and taxidermy hung on walls segmented by purposefully weathered, light-blue paneled cabinets. Spanish patterned tile on the floor marks the bar area, creating a sense of place that contrasts with the herringbone wood floor found throughout. Custom designed area rugs also adorn the bar and lounge area.

A trail of custom steampunk fixtures guide guests to the main dining room, where rock and roll blends with a polished aesthetic. Victorian details spark additional curiosity as guests dine on custom made plush leather sofas in a moody ambience. Wanting the main dining room to feel like an extension of a guests home, the designers curated more than 150 pieces of artwork to decorate the space. Old world styling mixed with modern touches creates an eclectic and engaging dining area. This dining room also features a gallery window and open kitchen that draws guests' eye into the theatrics of an impressive wood-fired grill. The window offers a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and provides a live action backdrop to the contemporary saloon.

Adjacent to the main dining room is another formal dining area dubbed the blue room which is outfitted in navy blue paneling with blue leather upholstery that features hints of burgundy. The refined, yet edgy, vibe is continued through this dining area, and also showcases curated artwork and antique pieces found on the walls.

Weslodge goes beyond diners' expectations with an elegant, hearty menu, artfully authentic cocktails, and a sophisticated design that provides an upscale atmosphere for guests to dine, drink and relax.
