The Educational Foundation of IFDA (IFDA-EF) and Cliff Young have launched a student design competition for the 2016-2017 school year. The Foundation is asking educators to include the contest as part of their curriculum this fall for undergraduate students.
Entrants are asked to design a piece of furniture with classical references, clean design and sophisticated details. The piece could be hip and edgy, warm and organic and made with timeless simplicity but not minimal. The piece needs to be functional and aesthetically pleasing for a modern lifestyle.
The winner will receive a $3,000 cash prize plus a paid trip to NYC in September 2017 to attend the awards ceremony at "What's New What's Next" Gala sponsored by Cliff Young. There is also a possibility that the winning entry may be put into production - under separate agreement with Cliff Young. The Honorable Mention entries will also be on display in the Cliff Young Showroom and at the Gala.
The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2017.
