Roz Chast's upcoming retrospective, The Masters Series: Roz Chast, will be on view from November 17 through December 15 at SVA's Chelsea Gallery in New York City. The retrospective will offer viewers a peak into Chast's New York, a city that fuels both her imagination and anxiety.
The exhibition will be a comprehensive retrospective of her celebrated career and include never-before-seen cartooning and illustration work, selections from her more than 20 books, a new hand-drawn mural, notebooks Chast kept in high school, embroideries, hooked rugs and hand-dyed pysanky, or Ukrainian-style Easter eggs.
At the opening of the retrospective, Chast will receive the 30th annual Masters Masters Series Award SVA's highest award that honors the greatest visual communicators of our time. As a recipient Chast will join the ranks of Michael Bierut, Christoph Niemann, Milton Glaser, Paula Scher and Ivan Chermayeff, past recipients who have also taught at SVA.
