Design Core Detroit Launches Podcast on Inclusive Design and Sustainable Development

Design Core Detroit has launched The Detroit City of Design Podcast, hosted by Design Core's Executive Director, Olga Stella. In 2015 Detroit became the first U.S. city named a UNESCO City of Design, joining the United Nation's Creative Cities Network. Named for this designation which was secured by Design Core Detroit, the podcast explores topics such as inclusive design and sustainable development.

Each Tuesday, for ten weeks, DCD will release a new episode featuring leaders in the design, architecture and development sectors, including Frida Escobedo, Suchi Reddy, Ralph Gilles and Zena Howard. The first episode features renowned fashion designer, Tracy Reese who discusses her plans to build a sustainable fashion brand in Detroit after years of living and working in New York. Olga Stella talks with Reese about what makes Detroit an ideal location and how she is engaging the community in her design process.

The podcast expands on DCD's belief that design can be used to create conditions for a better quality of life and economic opportunity; DCD sees Detroit as a global model for sustainable and equitable development.
