The 2020 James Dyson Award, an international design award that celebrates, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers, is now open for submissions. The competition is open to current and recent design engineering students, and is run by the James Dyson Foundation.
The brief for 2020 is 'Design Something That Solves a Problem.' Entrants are asked to think differently, to create products that work better. In addition to the International winner, this year the JDA will crown a second winner, focused on Sustainability for the first time.
"Each year we have been struck by the ingenuity and conscience of young people to solve really big problems," said James Dyson. "So many of the James Dyson Award entries have a focus on improving the world through engineering and technology. Recognising the role that engineers and scientists play in creating a sustainable future, we have decided to introduce a second international prize focused on ideas which do more with less and tackle environmental or social issues."
The deadline for submissions is July 16, 2020.
