The Residential Bike Theft Challenge

The Residential Bike Theft Challenge

Design Council launched a national search for designers to develop new ways of securing bicycles against theft from homes.

Research shows that over the last eight years more than two thirds of bikes stolen have been from in or around the victim's home.

The Residential Bike Theft Challenge, part of Design Out Crime, an initiative from the Home Office's Design & Technology Alliance Against Crime and the Design Council, is looking to support designers to develop their solutions, by either developing a new idea or helping an existing solution get to market.

The call to designers offers four winning teams a ten thousand pounds kick start fund for their work.

Designers who are interested in applying need to submit a short proposal by February 2, 2011.
