D&T Association Launches Social Campaign to Champion the UK's Favorite Products and Innovators

The Design & Technology Association has launched a social campaign to raise awareness about the importance of design and technology and its impact at all levels of our lives. The campaign invites school pupils, teachers, the creative industries and the public to submit inspiring examples of designed objects, places and/or figures (alive or dead) from across the world of design, the creative industries, engineering and manufacturing. Everyone sharing their examples are encouraged to do so using the hashtag #DandTHeroes

"We want the #DandTHeroes campaign to involve and inspire every pupil and parent, every young person and adult across the country with the message that D&T is a thriving forward-looking subject area far beyond its craft roots in wood and metal work," commented Richard Green, chief executive of the Design & Technology Association. "It provides an opportunity for pupils to learn and apply creative problem solving and design thinking, to practically apply their maths and physics, and to be introduced to the key industry sectors in which the UK excels.

"The importance of a strong and competitive design and technology component in education has never been more critical. The UK faces serious skills shortages across the creative, design, technology and engineering sectors, and education must equip pupils to meet the needs and opportunities of the UK's most successful future facing industries."
