Design is the New Currency Symposium

Design is New Currency the first annual design symposium organized by Pratt Institute, which will take place at the Whitney Museum in NY on November 2nd.

From beauty packaging to architecture and art, the panel will touch upon how design influences everyday lives going from something that used to be merely functional to being a sought upon experience by consumers.

The symposium will bring together in one room the knowledge of a forward thinking institute on the cusp of innovation and design like Pratt as the first college to offer courses on packaging design, along with the professional experience of esteemed industry professionals who will bring their personal point of view on why design has become the new currency.

The panel of speakers consist of David Rockwell, Juan Montoya, Michele Oka Doner, James Gager and Marc Rosen as moderator.

"Whether we are creating bottles for perfume, designing a building or an interior, or suggesting a lifestyle through fashion, all designers are packaging, or marketing, an experience," said Marc Rosen, Pratt Institute Trustee Emeritus and Professor of Packaging Design. "Pratt is a mecca of design education where every kind of design is taught. How appropriate for them to bring together the 'Best of the Best' to participate in this first symposium."
